Working with Children

This is a short video of some recent exploratory research I did as a pilot. It's such an early stage of the project that this is with my daughter. You can see the difficulty of researching a 3 year old even when the phrasing of the question is straightforward. Girls love to talk about their favourite things but it's hard to get a detailed response or clear rationale. When asked why they like something, young children may only say because it's their favourite. For really young children, observation and light chat while they play would yield more detailed results.

Great British Sewing Bee - Week 1

Great British Sewing Bee Week 1
I'm currently obsessed with the Great British Sewing Bee! Here's my first attempt at the Week 1 challenge of a simple top... hmm, yes very simple if it fits! The neck line was far too big so I gathered the front middle section with a running stitch - cleverly disguised with a massive statement bow! The back neck line is also gathered to fit and the sleeves were flapping away so they got a double pleat to hold them in place. I've now adjusted the pattern to account for fit by re-cutting the top shoulder seam in a smaller size which removes about 4 cm of excess material and cut the front neckline a bit higher. Just need to find some new material to make it in as I seem to have a cupboard full of prints fit for 6 and 4 year old daughters!

Welcome!

Well hello and welcome to my first post on Blogtastic! Just having a play and a little academic learning exercise with my students before Mrs Prayle and I kick off with our very own blog for Greyson Marketing.
